Pleeeease Sam face
*hands* I am done searching!

Can anyone recommend a good tutorial on making gifs for tumblr using a Mac. I found lots for PC, but Mac seems harder to find (this baffles me completely!).

I need it from capturing (and the best program for that) through to making the gif. Photoshop is cool, I just need to be shown (or told) how to.

I will crack this dammit!

Thank you if anyone can assist. <333

(Keep in mind I am a total GIF-making n00b and have been at it maybe 4 months total.)

GIF Brewery is my favorite GIF-making App for the Mac, and I use graphic converter for fine-tuning.
With GIF brewery you can make movie files directly into GIFs, so all you need is a a program to shorten your movies to workable sections beforehand

Okay that wasn't a tutorial but app suggestions at any rate ; )

Thanks

Hey...when you say you use a graphic converter for fine-tuning what do you mean? Does that require a different program...?

Graphic converter is a different (and free) program, but with it you can do things like remove or add frames, which I love!

Ack...it's doesn't like me. I swear there's a universal conspiracy against me making gifs..

It keeps zooming in on a small part of the clip when I make the gif. It makes no sense to me. everything works well until I go to make the gif and then random close up..

What's the size of the image? I tried to GIF Jared's F13 movie the other day and had a similar problem. I think the format was different from what I get for the show files. I'm at work until 6pm otherwise I'd totally try to help you now. N00b GIF group learning together \o/

I'm using a piece of footage from a convention.

I might try some show footage and see what happens.

Thanks

Woot - looks like it was to do with the size of the file I made (I think). Anyway...it seems ok now. :))

Thanks.

LOL, I should've known that one of my favorite creative persons is a Mac user. XD

Have you checked out the Macworld site? Those guys have tutorials for EVERYTHING.

ETA: How about this? This? Or this? ;)

Have you tried the #gifs tutorial tag on Tumblr? Not sure exactly what you need for the Mac that's different on a PC?

One of the links above is for a tutorial on Tumblr. It's very good.

Looks like I'll have to try that has the program I was hoping would work seems to hate me.

Seems everyone has their particular favourite that just works for them...

Have a look around Tumblr, I've followed quite a few pretty gifs back to their original poster and seen side bar links to tutorials, most I've seen are in Photoshop. I can't help with that as I don't have Photoshop - one of the best things I think with Photoshop is the 'input to layers' option, only time I've ever tried a gif I've had to screencap each frame and then import each one and that takes forever!

Best of luck hon!

Thanks honey. <3

The program I've downloaded seems to be working ok. Now I'm just playing with the quality. This reminds me of when I started vidding and trying out a gazzillion different codecs to see which one would give me the smallest file with the highest quality.

Photoshop would be the most flexible and I reeeeaaaally have to get with the program. No matter how many times I use it I keep forgetting what I have to do to make stuff work!

I shall overcome! (one day...;/)

Hehe, so true, I look at how other people say they vid and my head spins!

Photoshop just seems to have TOO many options...
