Jody Smiles
Day 5: Favourite Female Charater

I have ridiculous amounts of love for Jody Mills. I love how competent and resourceful she is. She's wonderfully human and I love that she allows mothering (and therefore motherhood) to be celebrated. She's a fighter and even though she has been in peril she never comes across as helpless.

Jody-2

Jody-faces

My runners up: Ellen (SO SO much love for Ellen), Charlie (adds a ray of sunshine to the series) and Abaddon (may well become my all time fav female baddies).

Great choices all - I think Jodie has superceded Ellen (largely by dint of staying alive...). I also loved Kathleen Hudak, the woman lawyer in Folsom Prison Blues, Sarah Blake and Missouri. Actually, most of the really strong cameo appearances by women that I really liked seem to have been early seasons. Hum. Interesting.

I loved all those women too! Isn't it funny that Missouri only appear in one episode - way back in S1 and she yet had such a huge impact on the fandom - so memorable. It's a shame they never bought her back.

Oooh, I just thought of someone else I loved! Pamela!! She was awesome! (Jo grew on me also....).

Pamela Barnes rocked. Jo was someone I never warmed to, like Charlie. I don't dislike them but they just don't do it for me somehow.

Great choice. I think my fav is Mary Winchester, but Jody runs a close second for me, too. ♥

Oh yes Mary. She's such an interesting character. I love that they explored her character more as the series progress.

I spent part of today actively looking forward to this evening to read people's answers! It's great to have this (extra) reason to think about the details of the show.

I agree! I love thinking about it and then reading what others say. Great way to pass the time...

This one was alot harder for me to pick than the favourite male where my answer jumps straight to me.

I'd pick Ellen... She had a quick wit I found really enjoyable to watch and with father figures covered through John and Bobby, I always found it nice for them to have a maternal figure in Ellen :D.

Honourable mentions would be Jody for much the same reasons as yourself, Ruby (She was a bitch, but I thought her story-line was fantastically handled and under Katie Cassidy in particular I was constantly guessing her allegience) and Pam because who doesn't love a psychic who knows her own mind ;).

There have been some fantastic female characters over the years.

Ruby was a great character - one that had a fantastic character arc. I really never guessed her true purpose - I knew she was playing Sam but not to what end.

And I love Ellen! I met Samantha Ferris at a Con and she was lovely. I have so much admiration for what she did with Ellen.

And yay Pam! I adored her also.

Nice icon! Bad ass Ellen ftw and you got to meet Samantha Ferris? I'm so jealous!

Jody is awesome. She'd be my third. Mine are Ellen for the early seasons and Charlie for the later but Jody fills some of the Ellen role for the guys now. One of the things I really like about Jody is that I think she's Sam's friend. Dean has other people besides Sam that he's gotten close to - Charlie, Cas, Bobby. Sam needs someone and I think he and Jody bonded in Time After Time drinking to Bobby's memory and trying to get Dean back. They worked together well in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid too. I frankly don't think I could have handled it if they had killed her off in Sacrifice. I know everybody on SPN dies but some people get a hero's death and Jody deserves more than being duped and murdered by Crowley, dang it…smacks hand on the table.

Killing her off would have been dreadful I think. There are times that I really don't understand them killing characters off because they usually come back in some way any way. Why not just let them not be around? Like they did with Jody. She didn't appear all season, but they could bring her back because they hadn't killed her off (though I suppose they could find a way to bring her back but I'm sure that takes some thinking about).

I would love to see Jody and Sam continue to develop their relationship. The connection they had in Time After Time was lovely and something Sam probably needs.

I think there will be an uproar if they kill off Jody...but can you imagine the reaction if they killed off Charlie?! Let's hope they decide to never kill either of them...

Pitchforks and torches heading to Vancouver if they kill her off. She can go in the show finale if everyone else does.

I think she will definitely one for the finale (along with John...somehow!) And the amulet...

And a real Led Zeppelin song.
