Speaking of which, *wipes brow from the hot*, THIS wonderful Queer as Folk vid by dreamrequiem. GUH...It's so mesermising and hypnotic and I mentioned hot didn't I?. This vid could have gone on forever (and I rarely wish that of vids....) Check the warnings though!

Holy crap. I've just made 62 clips and it's taken me a solid 3 hours. Who does that with their Sundays??! My eyes are killing me.... but I had to take the opportunity while I could..... :) I don't normally vid like that, but I knew all the clips I needed, so just went for it....

Hmmm. My Jo and Ellen vid has stumbled. When you make a vid that you wouldn't want to watch yourself you know it must be dodgy... *sigh* I might see if I can salvage it at some stage.... :(

While I'm here, I want to send massive hugs to all those who gave me warm fuzzies on the vid love meme. I was truly touched. Thanks to sdwolfpup for hosting it. :D

A YT subscriber has just "challenged" me to make vid with Dean hunting and killing Edward Cullen. HA! Oh that does appeal. Especially as Twilight makes my teeth itch. However, I'm sure there would be cries of foul as it would be seen as copying that buffy/twilight cross over. But boy that made me snorffel.

Mega hugs to all you lovely enablers for your words of encouragement on my vid musing post. For some reason Jo and Ellen muscled their way in (I think because it's the shortest and probably easiest at this busy time) so I've started that... :). I gotta say I've loved vidding S2 again, and even though this is more a celebration than a tearjerker, it's still made me a bit sad...

And finally vidding pays off in RL! And no, not financially but in hugs. I've just finished a day of editing my daughter's school project. She's done all the filming and she asked me if I could put it all together. Which I did. At the end of the day I jokingly asked if she was going to give me a box of chocolates as payment. She turned around and gave me a hug! \o/ She's pre-pubescent so yes, hugs are few and far between these days. WIN

I hope you all had/are having a good weekend. (Only 3 weeks of school left!\o/)

The Great Round Robin Vidding Experiment 4

A while back I put my hand up to be involved in, what's known as, The Great Round Robin Vidding Experiment. Basically it involves a number of vidders putting together a video in sections. In this case we had 30 secs each. The idea is to not share what we are doing with the other vidders and see what happens when it's put together. This is organised by the lovely starrylizard vid through the Supernatural Video Station website.

This is the first one I've done (there's been 3 previous to this one) and I have to say it was a heap of fun. And really, I can't believe how well it turned out, considering there are 7 vidders involved in making this. I've embedded it here so you can check it out. (Can you pick mine??) The theme was Fun Times/Feel Good The song is The Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" All the vidders involved are listed at the end of the song, or on the SVS link if you want to see who they are. :)

Thinking out loud...

Pardon me while I muse out loud about all these vids I'm thinking about at the moment .... Strangely enough this actually helps get my thoughts in place and it might just help me decide which one of these to commit to. I often look back on these posts as a reminder of what I was thinking at the time. (And yes, I'm starting to itch because it's been a week since I open my editing program...)

So:

Crackish Cas/Dean vid to Wind Beneath My Wings. I have actually started this and sometimes it makes me giggle out loud, but then I think I'll be the only one who understands the joke. Plus deliberately making a "Bad Vid" is tricky. I think it's just gonna look like all my other vids.... *eep*

Impala Vid: I've wanted to make an Impala vid for ages and thanks to the amazing secretlytodream I have the perfect piece of music. But. It's hard. It's instrumental and I imagine it having that kinda look Loki achieves in her vids. But. That doesn't come easy to me. If in fact it will come at all. (which I doubt actually). So just the fact that it'll be hard and time consuming is keeping me away from it. But the challenge excites me. Argh.

Sam vid After making my Dean vid, I want to make a Sam vid. I have finally settled on a song. The lyrics tell exactly the story I want to tell, but the song itself I'm not 100% sure about. But. What the heck. I can't stop thinking about it, so I'm going to go with it.

Castiel vid This amuses me a bit because I wouldn't say I'm a huge Cas fan. But he's growing on me and I heard a song recently (a Mika song can you believe it!?) that I think would be great for a Jimmy/Castiel vid. It'll be short and (hopefully) atmospheric so that appeals to me at the moment.

Sam/Dean schmoopy, feel good vid OMG. I heard this song and just thought of the boys and I think it might be on the top of my list at the moment. Quite different for me (song wise) , but I just picture all those yummy bro!love moments.

Farewell to Jo and Ellen vid This will be bitter/sweet, (more sweet then bitter) but I'm not sure whether to actually keep the song until the end of the season and include all the other characters that will be (no doubt!) killed off?! OR strike while the iron's hot. Hmmmm..... *ponders*

Damn! That's too many. But feel free to nudge me if any of these sound appealing. :)

Wheeeeee!!!

I've just purchased my flights to Sydney so I can go to the AHBL Con in May!!! I actually did it. *faints* Age has changed me because I never do things like this! \o/ But I figure I'll may not get a chance again. Plus pretty much all my family live there now so I get to see them as well. WIN and WIN!!

So .... can't wait to meet some you lovely peeps!! :D

Oh... I better buy a ticket to the con I suppose....

This is one of those vids were I have a plethora of people to thank because honestly, this vid would never had survived without them. Due to their cheerleading and amazing ideas this vid finally came together in a way I'm happy with. Massive hugs and thanks to _sharvie_my wonderful beta, maichan808 for her feedback and generosity (she actually purchased part of this song for me!), mithborien and lsketch42 for their amazing ideas and help and to the lovely deirdre_c for her feedback and encouragement. :D

And thanks to Michael DeSanto for giving me permission to play with his original footage. And for telling me he liked it! :D *phew*

Vid notes:

When I first saw Stupornatural I so impressed with the work that had gone into making this fanvid. The idea, the script, the production and of course how friggin' hilarious it was. I also saw that there was a trailer, photos, the soundtrack and even a gag reel available. That basically gave me the idea that a fanvid would be an interesting addition to that. I know. I'm kinda mad... So this is basically a fanvid of a fanvid. :)

I tried to approach it as if it were like any other episode of Supernatural. I tried to use the footage in the same way I would use Show's footage. That in itself presented a few interesting challenges. But also, finding the balance between dialogue footage and non. And with the help of the wonderful ladies above I think, I hope, I'm got the balance right.

Anyway. I'm blathering on because I'm a bit nervous about this one. It's not really like anything I've done before.

No money made but comment are gratefully accepted. Even of the concrit variety. :)

So. They did it again. Maybe it wouldn't truly be Supernatural if they didn't kill off some beloved characters (or even un-loved characters) somewhere in the season. So much for making a vid at the end of the season for all those characters who survived. So far I have Bobby and Rufus.

I cried. I admit it. Particularly being a mother of a daughter who looks like a younger version of Jo (well, she's blond and innocent looking!). I actually really felt that scene. Though I don't usually like being manipulated to tears quite as much as that (I hated "Marley & Me" for that very reason)- but I accepted it because at least Show gave them a sending off. Not a sudden, you're dead! (Like poor Ash and many others).

Cas is growing on me bit by bit. I liked him in this. And I loved Lucifer. Mark P. friggin' oozes that charisma and he totally sells Lu for me. I liked that we really got to see some of his nastiness. Ooh and his decaying vessel. I can just imagine how awful that must be for the host.

And Sam and Dean? Oh boys. They are still at odds with each other aren't they. Though at least they were able to share a smile about it. I figure they (Show) need to keep their relationship unresolved so they have something to work with at the end of the season. It's all I can imagine. Gone are those moments of great concern when one on them is hurt. When was the last time we actually saw that? Dean's death end of season 3? Though I am glad that Sam at least checked his pulse. (yes, yes... I live for those bro!moments. It's what makes this show so special).

Oh and I'm sorry. I couldn't by wooby, panic stricken Dean. He's concerned, I get that but this is a man who's been to hell, who's fought god knows how many monsters, lost many loved ones and was very recently the man who kept his game head on in Good God Y'all when Sam was in peril. Or am I being too hard? Maybe this was a moment for Bobby and Dean to share a kinda father and son bonding moment? .... Nah. I'm not sure I can buy that just yet. I would love to have seen both of them harden to the situation, show how professional they are and then maybe have a brief glimpse of their inner turmoil.

I enjoyed this ep though. Great to see Show close the 4th wall and show us a hunt and some cool shots (LOVED reaper shots). And something about having a cross roads on an underpass?! Yeah, that was cool.

And I LOVED seeing Ellen and Jo again. Just when fandom seems to have warmed to them (I think), they get rid of them. A shame.

R.I.P Ellen & Jo. :( Think you might need your own special vid. <3

We are so spoiled in this fandom (though really I have no other fandoms to compare it too... are they all as lucky as we are?)

There's this fic meme going around where you can pick a section of text (a snippet as it were) from a writer's work and they will do a running DVD style commentary on it for you .... as in.. tell you what they were thinking when then wrote it, what was going through the characters head etc.

Each time I see one of those I think how well it would also work for a vid... I know I'd be curious about what the thought process was for some sections of some of the vids I've watched...

Don't know. Maybe that's been done....

Anyway. *ponders* I might just post something like that later on.

YAY! It's SPN tonight. I am a wee bit jittery about it.... but still, can't wait to see it.

Even though I have had limited vidding time it doesn't feel right if I'm not tinkering with something. I've had this song sitting in my "possibilities" folder for a long time now. I wanted to make some sort of apocalyptic vid and it wasn't until the episode "The End" aired that I was able to get the footage I wanted.

Therefore this vid is somewhat self indulgent. I adored the way they filmed the shooting down of the zombies (more cinematic than telematic), so I just had to play with it. Then of course I had to indulge myself with these lyrics:

A while back I got an email from my lovely YT friend saying there was an episode coming up called Changing Channels. My heart skipped a little beat, but I though yeah, it will be about channeling spirits or something. Then I saw the preview and SQUEED LOUDLY when I saw that it was going to be something about the boys living in various TV episodes.

I have just finished watching it and now I am in serious flail mode because HOLY CRAP!

You know, they picked a lots of genres I had.. but really it was Knight Rider that just made me die from being Kripked! (How much do I wish I had had Dean in the driver's seat!!) Sam as KITT is probably my all time favourite thing EVER!

And damn Dean for saying channel surfing and not channel hopping!! (though I was squeeing when I saw he was watching a hospital drama).

You'll just have to excuse me for being in some sort of fangirl nirvana at the moment, but that's the closest I'll ever get to having an idea that the show actually made. (And if you are reading this and have no idea what I'm ranting on about - I mean this).

And aside from all that, the episode was amazing. There were times when I wanted to weep:

"Do you think your mother and father would be still alive if Sam wasn't born?" "Yes". *meep*

But then there was also:

Sam operating on Dean!! (why does that fill me with ridiculous glee!) And stitches with dental floss!!

Dean eye fucking Dr. Sexy. (He so had the hots for that guy!)

SAM AND DEAN ON A TANDEM BIKE!! (Maybe I can make that "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid" vid I've been wanting to make!).

That whole opening montage. <3 OMG! That song!!....(someone will vid that won't they?!!)

CSI BOYS!!! *dies* so completely. Adored that section! They looked like they were having a ball!

Dean rummaging around in Sam's trunk. *faints*

Nice rims!! (I know - brain was totally going there tonight!).

So much more but my brain is still in exploded mode.

*hugs* And thanks to those who have said that that episode was a tribute to my vid. I doubt that the writing team or Kripke would have actually seen it but I can still be chuffed that I thought of it first! \o/

Snagged link from missyjack, this is the most amazing thing (I won't say ever because I've seen a lot of amazing things - but it's pretty damn close!) : Stupornatural Honestly, I have never laughed so hard.

Other than it being so friggin' hilarious, I just love the observations that have been made here about the show. I would love to know how long this took them to produce this. It's long. On You Tube it's in two parts, the link above is to Vimeo - which has it in one hit. The filming is pretty good, as is the acting and scripting and I particularly love the sound track. But really it's the cat that wins....

A must see for all Supernatural fans me thinks!

Flowers that bloom in the Spring...

My garden has some beautiful flowers in it at the moment. I just love looking at them.

Knowing that they will disappear soon I asked my 12 year old daughter to take a photo of each flower. I decided to try my hand at putting some of them into a small montage in Photoshop. I have never used this program before...and, it's not easy! I have utter admiration for those of you who know how to use it. So please excuse how crappy this looks. But (as I said with my first ever vid!) you have to start somewhere.....

Anyway - here is a snap shot of my back yard. This represents only about a third of everything that is blooming at the moment. And of course I had to include a shot of Charlie. And the chooks...

An honest to god thought that crossed my mind while the boys were talking to Jesse about his options for the future... I could totally see them talking him to Bobby's along with his mom Julia, and Bobby would have an instant family! I'm thinkin'... yeah, she would be a perfect match for Bobby. And the boys would be his surrogate brothers and teach him the ropes and throw a football around with him, and Julia would be fussing over Bobby and he'd be all grumpy but secretly LOVIN' it and they'd all live happily ever after!. Holy Crap I was turning SPN in some sort of soap!....

Sheeeeesh.

Of course he disappeared and so did my little fantasy. *sigh* Though yay! that he picked Australia to come to. I wonder if there are demons in Australia? I figure Aus is often picked as a place to run away to because it's so far away and maybe there is a sense that it's some sort of paradise (which, it is actually). Hee! I can picture the Anti-christ as a surfing hippie dude.....

I really enjoyed that episode. So many good old fashioned moments... the bros being bros, some wonderful laugh out loud moment (god damn! farting noises gets me every time! And Misha FTW!!!), some spooky bits and some gory bits and some wonderful touches on the myth arc. Sam is hurting SO much from his mistakes and Cas throws it in his face. Actually that scene reminded me a little of when they first met. I love that there's more Sam and Cas stuff happening. And props to Show for casting another awesome child. Sometimes children in TV shows make my teeth itch, but in SPN they mostly get this right. And I really felt for this kid. (I'm sure there's some major meta'ish thoughts to be had on the whole anti-christ angle and the role children play in the SPN 'verse, but I'll leave that to someone else).

While I'm here.... major hugs and smishes for the lovely feedback (and rec's) on Hurt. It really meant a lot. :)

Vid notes:

This song was first performed by Nine Inch Nails and later covered by Johnny Cash. I love his rendition and when I was tossing up whether to actually make this vid I heard it on the radio 3 times in one day AND happened to see the Johnny Cash music video, (which is very simple but powerful) and I figured it was a sign and went for it. :)

Angst vids are always my biggest challenge, but one that I thorougly enjoy. For this one it was primarily the lyrical interpretation. Some were quite straight forward but something like "the needle tears a hole" doesn't strictly relate to Dean as he's not doing drugs, so I chose to interpret the "needle" as Sam and the hole he's tearing is through Dean's heart, which then led to "the old familiar sting" and I saw this as being a feeling Dean has felt before and asssociated that with time when Sam has either betrayed him or has shown his darker side. I also wanted to link all those moments with shots that were associated blood (which appears again later in vid). There's more of course, but I won't bore you with the details! :)

I finished this before Season 5 started and worried that it might be a bit dated for Dean now, but in fact I think Dean is still carrying the guilt of not being there for Sam when he needed him most. Well, to me anyway.

No money made but feedback is gratefully accepted (and treasued in fact). If you do watch and are unsure on what I am trying to say with a particular interpretation feel free to ask me about it. :)

1. First up I have to say how thrilled I've been with the response that 9 to 5 received. I gotta say I just didn't expect it. Particularly as a lot of the feedback was about the song choice and the feeling that it wouldn't suit Supernatural, but that somehow it worked. So, thanks! :)

2. I have one more vid to post (next week) and then that may be it for a while. My hubby's family (from England) is descending upon us soon so the next 3 months are going to be pretty hectic. And me sneaking off to vid just won't look good. I mean, it's all good, we all get on, but life changes when visitors are around. I am hoping though I will have more opportunities to watch some vids and hopefully do some rec'ing. :) and any wee opportunity will see me opening my editing program no doubt!

Also, I have nothing screaming at me to make at the moment. I have a few little ideas floating about but nothing that feels urgent (like it usually does).

3. I have had a few requests to make a Castiel vid. I would like to but I don't know what angle to take on this angel. I mean if I could come up with something like THIS (Smile Like You Mean It), I would be pretty damn happy. This is a wonderful look at future Castiel and as much as anything shows what an incredible performance Misha gave us. All smiles and no happiness. Wonderful.

*koff* If you have any ideas you'd like to see me try let me know..... I can't ship Dean/Cas because it messes with my Sam/Dean OTP. (Though my crackish Dean/Cas vid might make it to air one day if I can figure out how to work some of the lyrics to "Wind Beneath My Wings".... "you must have been cold there in my shadow"..? nah, got nothing. Brainstorm anyone? *g*).

4. While I'm here, meta rec for 5.04 because bardicvoice writes wonderfully concise and insightful meta whenever she writes and this is no exception.

Phew! That's the longest blog yet I reckon. I must be gaining confidence! :)

PS: To those going to Wincon have an awesome time. Even though it would probably scare me to death I would love to be there to meet you all.

Vid notes

I could be listening to anything and I picture a vid to it. (Honestly my daughter has Taylor Swift's song "You belong to me" playing 24/7 and I've been picturing a vid to that! *runs*). So when I heard this song recently it just seemed like a good idea to make a vid to it. *meep*

I really just wanted to play with some of the lyrics and take a look at the boys working lives. Also gave me an excuse to clip from one of my favourite episodes "It's a Terrible Life".

And I will publicly claim that I have fallen in love all over again with Jensen, because I totally BOUGHT his 5 year old self. And how hard must that have been??? He's had to act with "himself" before, but this was a mega amount of acting to someone else. Hats off. I was impressed.

And Jared?! So creepy (um.. could have done without the white suit.. *snerk*) but so un-Sam. Loved it.
