Before I start, I have a question. Am I Sam? Did I hallucinate that? Did show actually give us some of those moments that made us fall in love with it over 6 years ago?! Did I really see those things that were on my wish list?!?! Really??

I just have to..

I actually LEAPED off my sofa with a fist pump at the end!! And yiped: "YES YES YES"!!! (I actually really did).

Ok. Let's just take stock. (remember disclaimer..)

1. Opening scene! Wow... oozy black stuff. Staggering, dripping Cas. We now know what the opening titles are all about. ;D (I love that we had black splats and blood spats throughout that episode. Oh show! You know how to appeal to my love for schlock horror!

>Just a wee note about schlock horror. To me, it's that rather "tacky", over the top shock and gore that you get in lesser made movies (often really, really cheap movies). Think of those movies that make you cringe and then laugh. Some examples. I think SPN homages that fine genre quite often and this episode had oodles of shout outs. Not least the blood splatters, creepy hospital, gore, rather corny looking monster effect and colour. That pasty green is often used in schlock. Usually it's matched with pink. I love it. That's not saying Show is "tacky". SPN skirts a lovely fine line between homage and being actually really creepy and very well made. And of course it doesn't just homage that. Show is great at drawing from many sources. That's just one I am particularly drawn to.

2. CAS!! OMG... I actually felt a pang when Dean pulled out the trench coat. *sniff* Not only for Cas but Jimmy too (you can't tell me Jimmy survived that?!). I'm not passed believing that Cas has somehow survived though. I am pretty damn sure we will be seeing more of him. Show KNOWS how loved Misha is by fans so I am SURE we will see him again. (maybe in Dean's dreams...?) He'll be back. No doubt about it. :)

3. Bobby. Just had to mention him because he's was just there. No fuss. No angst. Just there as this massive support to the boys.

And then... HE WASN'T! WHAAAAAAA My jaw HIT THE GROUND when we saw Bobby's place. Really??!?!? DID THEY DO THAT?! NOES!! That was home. A base. Full of memories and BOOKS AND PANIC ROOM AND INFORMATION AND JUST EVERYTHING!! It surely can't be real? Did Sam imagine it? But Dean saw it too so it can't be in Sam's "beautiful mind". Unless Dean isn't real? Again. ACK!! That can't be right. MY HEAD HURTS WITH THE POSSIBILITIES OF THAT! /o\

4. Sherif Mills. \o/ I LOVE HER. So great to see her back. SO great that they didn't kill her off (yet!). So great that she is made of WIN.

5. Mark as Hellucination!Lucifer. Hellucifer?... soooo creepy and perfect. And after I was questioning how we were to take his "spooning" comment recently it was made PRETTY DAMN CLEAR by him saying Sam was his Bitch is every sense of the word. OH GOD. And when he appeared again at the end, my heart clenched. Oh Sam. :(

6. Sam and Dean. FRACK! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE BOYS!! just.... EVERYTHING!! I want to squeeeeeal. And KEY SMASH!!! And and and...

Ok. Can we just take as read that I loved EVERYTHING about the boys this week. Puppy eyed, hurt, wooby, confused, brave Sam (kill me now! THANK YOU!!!) , Concerned, protective, hurt, wooby eyed!Dean (DEEEAAAANNNN!!).

I have to picspam now because that's just easier than explaining:

a) THIS! THIS WAS ON MY WISH LIST!!! \o/ Dean tending to hurt!Sam. GOD I LOVED THIS SCENE!!! \o/ Dean checking and then Bobby applying a new bandage <33333 (and then to find out later that Dean did the stitching!! KILL ME!!! (writers have been reading fanfic!! \o/)

b) LOOK AT THAT!!! Dean holding Sam hurt hand *melts* and *dies*

c)WOOBY!SAM... *hugs* him (oh man.... he fought so hard to pull it together).

d) PUPPY EYES OF DOOM!!! Oh my GOD! So much soulful Sam in the ep. He's so hurt and confused and NEEDS his big brother (as I am already dead I can't say "KILL ME" but I would if I wasn't..)

e) YES YES!! BANDAGED HAND! (I fist pumped this as well). I speculated on my last post the the bandage was significant (yeah, I know. Doesn't take a genius) But my thought was that it might be a link to what's real for Sam and what's not. AND IT WAS! Go me! (Hey. I don't think I have EVER speculated correctly on this show. I have to take that one)

That whole scene was AMAZING> Dean talking Sam down was a thing of pure love. And for him to use his own experience in hell to do that?! DOUBLE WIN! Pain in the pit is different to real life!! WOW!! *hearts* Dean. He's hurting is so many ways, but knew what it took to talk Sam back. He's holding on by a thread that boy... as seems to be his way at the moment.

f) ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! \o/ \o/ So...um... yes. I may have watched this scene over and over (and over) because... BOYS IN AN AMBULANCE?!!? TOGETHER?! SHOW DOES INDEED LOVE ME!! (This bodes well for hospital!Sam in the future yes?!?! - I'm not spoiled btw)

g) And then Dean watching on as Sam seizes?! OH GOD!!

h) ARGHHHH!! Pleading!Dean. Scared, little boy Dean who doesn't want to go to LeviaHospital! (the fact that there is a CREEPY ASS HOSPITAL is friggin' AWESOME!!) Dean seems so broken here. To see this level of vulnerability.... *swoon*

i) And, last but not at all least, there was oodles of ... hurt!Sammy. *wallows*

Such a joy to watch. Like last week, there was just so much going on. I thought the show had ended a couple of times and then we GOT MORE! And the hits just kept on coming.

Having to wait a whole week will see like forever...

I love you show.

You just summed up all my squeeling and fuzzy feelings. It's only the second episode of this season and I'm soooo in love again!
1st-Oct-2011 01:26 pm (UTC)

And I know! Only 2 eps in and they are killing us with AWESOME!
1st-Oct-2011 12:58 pm (UTC)
I loved basically everything about this episode to bits! god,Sam was nearly crying the so often, but especially the scenes were he had to explain what was happening (also GO Boys for actual communication!) and him telling Dean that he might not be real *wobbly lip*

jesus hellucifer is creepy...and I can't believe they actually confirmed the whole sexual assault thing poor Sam ;( he was just so scared of him the whole time it breaks my heart

and both bobby-boys scenes! Sam being so sad that they just can't get a break! Deans protective instincts supressing all thought of himself again!

AND THE BOYS OH MY GOD they broke my hear and fixed it and broke it again *crying forever*

I'm so pumped about this season, they are giving us so much SamnDean and whump and this is so awesome!!!
1st-Oct-2011 01:29 pm (UTC)
SO much WIN! Boys actually communicating is such a relief - after what we have been through with them.

It's like a reward. <33

There WAS heartbreak, but with all that lovely communication and (dare I say!) comfort it came as one lovely package.

LOL wow, your enthusiasm makes me kind of miss the show. I unfortunately fell completely out of love with it...stopped watching somewhere during the Eve storyline, and even then, it was actually a chore, literally pushing myself to download, sit down and watch every now and then for the previous season or two. Sadly, I haven't been too excited about SPN since S4 ended. S5 was...meh...with a few good eps but overall mediocre and with a painfully bad ending. Don't even remember S6 except for the Eve character and I know I didn't finish it. And now 7 seasons? Still trying to decide what I think of that. I loved the first 4 seasons so much, it's disappointing to feel so disenchanted with a former favorite. Same with Merlin...first two seasons were gold, then I just got annoyed with S3. Wondering if I should give them another chance...

Hey there! Thanks for dropping by. :)

You know, there were a couple of times I really wanted to quit the show - especially during the soulless!Sam story line. But I just couldn't. I enjoy seeing those boys on my screen too much.

It's completely subjective because I know how weak the show can be at times. My objective brain knows that, but I just keep coming back for more.

The first 2 eps of this season have been wonderful. Mainly because the boys are back together and it has a S2 feel about it. It's come back to being about them - them against the world.

I say.. take a look if you get a chance. See what you think. :D

Yes, yes, that sounds much like my own reaction. Maybe not as loud as yours but, yes, the same feelings. :)

And Cas probably dead and Bobby missing?!! D: *cries*
2nd-Oct-2011 11:17 am (UTC)
HA!! Nothing can be as loud as me in squee mode (ah.. well, except for zimshan Her squee rivals mine. :D)

I probably should have felt more with the death of Cas, but I think he'll be back. I thought the scene was nicely handled.

There;s NO WAY they have killed off Bobby.... but just the thought of it is shocking (though how's Dean saying he'll drive himself and Sam off the pier if he was... ??! WHAAAAA).
1st-Oct-2011 02:18 pm (UTC)
Oh good lord, what an ep.

Is it just me that thought this when Dean squeezed Sam's bandage or is it a possibility that Sam might seek more pain to keep Lucifer off his back/out of his mind? Which brings to mind lots of future whump...

And good lord, the meta that's been rolling out about Cas has my flist bogged down. Out of it though, I've gleened some nuggets that I find interesting, namely:

We've seen many times how much the show thrives from praying on our emotions - probably for this very reason - it gets us talking about it. It gets us talking to anybody and everybody that will listen.

No way, no how, would they let Cas go out for good and let it be so anticlimactic. Although we might not always love their choices, the writers are far from dumb and well aware of the fanbase Cas has. If they were going to really truly kill Cas off for good, we would have had an entire episode dedicated to ripping our hearts out to that effect. Not just, damn, he's dead, sad face, now watch the boys go on about their lives. I am firmly convinced we have not seen the last of Cas.

Added to that, none of the other leviathans were lunatics like the one that seemed to be running the show in Leviathan!Cas. They were all kind of boring and one dimensional, like the many random red-shirt angels or demons.

So could 'The Boss' they refer to be inside our resident angel still? Aaaaand, I'm not sure how relavent it might turn out to be, but in the Talmud, Micheal and Gabriel are responsible for slaying the leviathans. Just saying.

The thought that Sam will seek pain to keep Lu at bay get me all sort of excited.

I am just fascinated by pain being different in hell. I would love to think that it's not as acute. I've had real trouble believing the boys could survive that long in hell with such intense pain.

And wow... I haven't read any Cas meta. I admit to not really being as emotionally invested in Cas as much as I am other characters. Not to say thought that I'm not interested in what they might do in the future. I have no doubt he will be back. Maybe only for a couple of eps but I think he will play a crucial part. If he comes back, I'd love to see him come back as Cas... redeemed and "grown up".

in the Talmud, Micheal and Gabriel are responsible for slaying the leviathans. Just saying.

WOW! that's awesome! What a nugget of information. We might see Adam again (as Michael maybe) and Gabriel..... I know nothing about leviathans. Looks like we could be in for a GREAT ride. (which I have no doubts about!)

Thanks honey.

Last season I was close to giving up on the show I had loved so much, but this season has definitely won me back, for all the reasons you just listed!
2nd-Oct-2011 11:29 am (UTC)
Oh yay! My motto last season was "relax, enjoy the ride". This season.. I actually AM enjoying the ride! \o/
1st-Oct-2011 02:33 pm (UTC)
Okay Ash - get outta my brain! You hit on everything that I loved again, which was pretty much everything about this epi!

I'm so proud of Dean for bringing Sammy out of his hallucination -the only way he knows how. Short of punching him in the face, he grabbed his hurt hand to bring him back to reality - what a brilliant idea Dean! This is why Dean is the only one who can help Sammy - he knows how to deal with it. It is different though with Sam - he was in the cage enduring mental and physical abuse by Satan and that's gonna leave a mark on his soul that can never be erased. Dean's hell was no less horrible, just different.

and the bromance - OMG off the charts wasn't it? I LOVE THE BROMANCE and my Wincesty brain was working overtime in this one!

I was so sad for Cas - he walked into the water with his back to us and his arms raised toward Heaven, similar to when we first saw him and his wings appeared. It was so sad and so poignant, and Dean picking up the trench coat...I wimpered right along with him. This can't be the end for Cas, it just can't be.

The writing in this was close to perfect. And Dean talking to Bobby on the his phone about taking his beautiful mind brother and driving of a pier - stop it Dean! He's gonna go off before long, I hope the Impala's not around when he does.

Hee! Brain twins! \o/

The scene with Dean talking Sam down was so beautiful and amazing. You know what gets me? They planned that scene from the beginning. Sam cutting his hand was ALL ABOUT this scene. It was about sam needing "real" pain to bring him out. It was Dean KNOWING this for Sam. It was Dean's experience in hell meaning something for Sam. It was using the SHARED EXPERIENCE that worked. god I love that!!! (I am still on a high that ep you may have noticed!)

Cas walking into the water was a thing of beauty.. sad, but poignant. And no. It's not the end. Cas doesn't go out like that I'm sure.

OH DEAN!! It's amazing really. Dean would actually take Sam's life if they were left this alone. (I actually don't think he would because Sam would talk him out of it.)

Though... did you see this little coda by counteragent??

Um. Yes is all I can say.

Another fire taking another Winchester home, one that was more home than the house in Lawrence ever was.

OH JEEZE. I didn't even connect that.

Yes yes! She does. (our patience has paid off! We have samndean again. *g*)

HAHA, so I wasn't the only one who thought that then?? Knowing Edlund the silly guy planned that. It's meta within meta within meta!

AHHH! PICSPAM!!! No one can resist the hands!! And the eyes!!! The Sammy eyes totally got to me several times. Pada did a great job with the expressiveness.

3rd-Oct-2011 05:37 am (UTC)
so I wasn't the only one who thought that then

Brain twins! :D After all the angst of the last few seasons it was hard to believe we were finally seeing some good ole samndean. :)

Hee.. well, rudimentary picspam. I really wish I could get to grips with Photoshop. I might be able to produce pretty pictures. At the moment I make them through my vid program. eepp But the Sammy!eyes \o/ Jay pulls them off so beautifully.

OOh yay! The Schlock makes sense? My head can go to strange places sometime. But I'm sure there's a deliberate shot out to early horror films here. :D

Hi! I think this one earns a coveted spot on my iPod. :)

I love how neatly that fits with Dean's nature. He likes things that are solid and real. Of course the man who got tetchy because heaven turned out to be the Matrix would have noticed the qualitative difference between tangible, earthly pain and the kind that comes from hell. They're also doing really well at playing to their strengths from week to week - Sam is the world's foremost expert in what you do after accidentally breaking the world while trying to save it; Dean knows all about picking up the pieces of yourself after going to hell. Also the nice foreshadowing in Lucifer's mockery: 'Aw, he wants to hold your hand!' as though the hallucination was protecting itself.

ARGHHHH!! Pleading!Dean. Scared, little boy Dean who doesn't want to go to LeviaHospital! (the fact that there is a CREEPY ASS HOSPITAL is friggin' AWESOME!!) Dean seems so broken here. To see this level of vulnerability.... *swoon*

The ending is wonderfully creepy. I love the fear of an official response to injury that builds through the episode. Sheriff Mills's disturbing roommate, the Leviathans' excitement that people die unnoticed in hospitals all the time, Lucifer-Dean's threat to have Sam committed ... but they're okay, because while Sheriff Mills is trying to get out of the hospital with all her organs still attached, Sam's hand can be fixed with some alcohol and a bit of concerned poking from his relatives, and real-Dean would much rather use homemade on-the-spot psychology than lock Sam up. As long as one of them is on his feet, as long as they can fix things themselves, they're fine. And then ...

Sorry, I'm babbling, aren't I? Excellent episode. :)
3rd-Oct-2011 07:10 am (UTC)

Oh yes... episode will require quite a few re-watches. :DD

He likes things that are solid and real.

Yes. As was evident last week when working on the car. It was great to see Dean realise that he could in fact help Sam. The week before he didn't think he knew how, but when it came down to it he really did.

as though the hallucination was protecting itself.

I am really curious about this notion. In fact, I'm going to be posting some further thinky thoughts and one will be on how the hallucinations actually work. They are from Sam's memories of hell. He is producing them. So what does what he project tell us about his state of mine... it's a friggin' mind field I reckon. I love the complexity of it.

Sorry, I'm babbling, aren't I?

Hee! NO! In fact, I love all that. Oh BOYS!! What a mess..

Definitely made of win.
