THIS! This is why show is so awesome! Remember the last witch episode? Malleus Maleficarum, season 3.09? Remember these particularly gorgeous bedspreads?!

Well, hello bedspreads! 7.05 :D That cracks me up!

I geek out over this stuff because that's for US. The die hard fans. \o/ :D

The other thing just for for us:

BEES!!!! \o/ (because... really?!?!)

What other show would hark back to an episode even they admit to being pretty terrible (well, the end anyway). (I'm referring to Bugs of course *g*).

Other stuff:

Well yeah. That was a bit silly but I really enjoyed it. On my wish list was some good old fashioned hunts. And here we have one. It was light hearted with a tiny undercurrent of the secret Dean is carrying.

My fav thing of course is comparing them (again!) to being married. They are so very married these two. They frustrate the hell out of each other, they know each other so very, very well and they love each other to pieces.

Of course I was TOTALLY distracted when the scene came on with Sam coming back from his jog. It was great to hear the actual lines. Makes those adlibbed ones even more impressive. Kudos to Jensen for remaining in character during that btw. Shows how in tune he is with Dean. And Jared?! YOU'RE A NUT! A lovely nut of course.

I find it extremely amusing that these two bad ass hunters find chickens feet icky. They can dig a grave, face numerous types of dead bodies but can't touch chicken feet. HA!!

Dean having a nightmare about Cas, Sam and killing Amy. It was great to see Cas in there. It does still play on Dean's mind. I admit I'm surprised they are still replaying back to that the killing of Amy. I know that it's more about him doing that behind Sam's back than the actual killing. I am VERY curious to see what they plan to do with this.

GORE GORE and MORE GORE!! The amount of times I cried "that's just WRONG!" whilst sniggering... Oh man. Oh Show... (disappointed we didn't get a blood splatter because that would have made 5 from 5. I'd have to check but I'm pretty sure every ep this season has had the patented blood splatter).

Running!Sam... \o/ (happy, adjusted, worried about Dean! Sam *hearts* him).

Cupcake reaction!! That's girl freaking out about the cupcakes was made of utter win. I'm like "yep! That'd be me".

Ooh and Dean and Pie!!! bythedamned see see?! Sam prevented more pie eating by Dean. It's a thing. :D :D

So yep. Fun ep is fun!!!

Hee! I just love the idea that the set dressers are all.."let's use the same (non too subtle) bedspreads from the last witch episode. It's sure some geeky fans will like that". :DD

I was supposed to be in Fremantle an hour ago and I'm just now leaving home because I had to watch it first!

Sounds like a damn fine excuse to be late if you ask me!

I always get a bit itchy if I know I have an ep to watch. Better to be late than have that itch I reckon..;)

Oh, my! I didn't even notice the bedspreads! AWESOME catch!

They can dig a grave, face numerous types of dead bodies but can't touch chicken feet.

THIS. So much! XD

AWESOME catch!

It's probably pretty sad that I notice things like the fact that they used bedspreads from 3 seasons ago! LOL

I believe it wasn't so much the chicken bones but the smell....

Heh, that was actually one part of the episode that I could really really relate to: years ago, when I worked at an excavation in Greece we had spent hours scraping clean all kinds of animal bones we had found and had left them out in the sun to dry (the idea was for the anthropologist to examine them closely to determine if they were kept for food or wool/milk production or both). Anyway, somebody put them back into plastic bags before they were fully dry, and left them right out there in the sunshine.

The smell was just indescribable....

All of us hardened archaelogists, used to digging up graves, pretty much reacted the way Sam and Dean did.

It is *not* something Dean would want anywhere near his pie!

I have the oddest little thought and I'm (really, really hopefully) wrong on this, but something had bugged me for the last couple of eps that hasn't gone away. A friend of mine -who doesn't get as into the show as we do, so this was an innocent gut-reaction type of thing for them- mentioned to me that 'Bobby' might be one of the Leviathans, ever since his oddly-easy reappearance after vanishing when his house was torched. I know it makes very little sense but I just can't shake it. And when Dean was on the phone to Bobby in this ep and had to reiterate his last name etc... Tell me I'm wrong? /o\

Ah. So. You might not have seen some past conversations I have been having about this....;)

In short. Yes. Or maybe. Possibly. There's something isn't there?

You're not the only one. Past ponderings have involved thinking that they may have really messed up Bobby's reaction to his house burning down. OR he's not really Bobby. I love the latter but it begs the question.. who is he? I can't believe he is a leviathan because they want the Winchesters dead so he would have just done that already. (plenty of chances).

He might be the "big bad"... bigger than we have already seen (because Show wouldn't have given us the really, REALLY big bad yet would it?!) OR?? It's tricky. I really hope they have something up their sleeves with this because I can't buy that Bobby would be "meh" about his house burning down.

(might be a question for the flist in a few days...;) )

xx

Heh, show really loves us back! :D

Whatever they're planning to do with the Amy-thing, I hope they'll do it soon. I don't like the idea of them dragging that on for too long.

*nods* I hope the Amy thing plays out quickly also. I wouldn't have said it was something that Dean would angst over that much. Considering everything else he's been through.

hey ash
love your thinky thoughts about show!
bedspreads and bees! - I caught the Bee reference and noticed that they were totally CG and they didn't attempt to go with the 'real bees' that were so useless and sluggish in Bugs and didn't show up on screen and had to be added to with tons of CG afterwards I believe.
But, the bedspreads - I didn't catch that, although I did clock that they looked familiar!

I just love it when they do something like that for us out here, that nooone but geeks would notice!

I love the deer's head which has a made a couple of appearance already this season I believe.

Oh, and the pie gags, or the 'not pie' gags - what was that type of pie anyhow? In the UK, it looked like a lemon meringue pie, bu tit looked like it had banana on it? So, was it a bannoffee with meringue or something?

I've started a poem about pie, but am gonna have to change it to make it 'non pie' now!

But, being ignoramouslike - I'm not sure what you mean about the post jogging dialogue...? am i missing something? was it adlibbed? The bit about the biker?

But whoa! Sam jogging, and chirpy and at 'peace' and combined with hot and sweaty and looking flushed with heat. Godammit! How much hotter can that man get? I so hope that was meant to be another of Sara's 'gifts' to us. Wish he'd pulled his shirt off before he went into the batbroom though!

Dean saying he was all sweaty and stank - my goodness, is that just asking for a fic focused on sam/dean and a blasting steamy shower scene or what!?!

about Bobby, they just skipped over in that ep didn't they, and there just MUST be something behind that - I mean it was a huge decision to burn his house down, massive, that's the 'Winchester safe place' after all, with the panic room and although he has copies of all his books, I"m so gonna miss them going to Bobby's.

And all the support that Bobby gave other hunters with the phones, has he set up somewhere else then? Maybe they used some of the gold from the dragon find to set him up... unless that's all gone and I missed it? But, where was the gold kept if not somewhere at Bobby's. Then again, maybe it was in some other 'safe place'.

They do have access to all Samuel's library too maybe, wherever that is, Bobby could go there and set up in business.

Maybe it's an attempt, in getting rid of Bobby's house, to heighten the feeling of 'nowhere to run' to or something?
But personally that was a massive thing to do, a big loss not to have that safe base for them, and somewhere that is kinda the only 'home' they had left. Poor boys!

But they have to do something with Bobby - there are too many untidied string ends there in my view

I read the comments about maybe Bobby's a Leviathan, and I'd not cottoned on that you could read the phone conversation with Bobby obviously asking 'Dean who?' as something other than Bobby being 'witty'. But he can't be a Leviathan if he doesn't know who Dean is can he? Or could they be (and I've not been spoiled so don't have a clue what they are going to do with Cas) could they be putting the essence of Cas into Bobby, but he's so disorientated he doesn't know where or who he is or what's going on, or who the Winchesters are or something...? sounds lame!

That sounds way off of the wall and highly unlikely - but where is Cas, and what's goin on with Bobby and are the two connected in some weird way.

Ooo, Ooo, I'm just loving our show at the moment, can't help but feel it's the calm before the storm. They can't leave Sam's wall alone now, he may be at peace today, but Death and Cas made it really clear that if it came down, Sam would suffer unimaginably - so that's gotta come somehow. But how are they going to reconcile it and get us out of that really black place. Unless they have plans to finish at the end of this season with Sam in a mental hospital..... or on the road, but Dean protecting him (I read a fantastic fic about this by runedgirl - just brilliant)

Too many thinky thoughts, loving it though, and your reaction poats Ash. Thanks for getting us all going!

Hey!

You didn't see the (now famous!) outtake from that scene:

Here: It's a MUST see!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXXaFKFWTeA

Bobby is a bit of a mystery I reckon. I really can't tell what's going on there. Something definitely seems off. It seems so strange that he is so calm about his house burning down. And where was he when it was burning I wonder. I'm really hoping we have a great reveal down the track about that.

I have to say I hope we get a chance to see more of Sam under duress because of the wall. We didn't get nearly enough I reckon!

Oooh and that fic sounds like something I'd like. (I LOVE protective!Dean). Could I have a link?

I love that show gives us so much to think about! :D

OMG that was so funny! I loved when Jensen starts to smile, but kept going. Totally professional there!

thanks so much, I didn't know they did outtaakes at all! so funny - I keep scaring the cat with my giggles!

Oh god, and that was all without the references to 'relationships' that include honest discussion, marriages! I just adored how Sam was trying to get Dean to open up by comparing the two of them to an old married couple. Just fabulous - that must have been a nod to us by Sara I reckon! Awesome.
23rd-Oct-2011 11:26 am (UTC)
Definitely married! And soul bonded! \o/

I love that Sam tried to get Dean to open up to him. The truth will have to come out at some point.

I'm late to the party as usual, but there was one thing about the ep that really bugged me, and I'm hoping you or someone else will have thoughts about it to resolve my unease.

The witches killed four people while having a squabble, and they certainly didn't show any remorse. CC's character didn't even seem to care that her supposed friend was killed, and it sounds like they have been around for hundreds of years having marital disputes. Dean and Sam made one half-hearted attempt to stop them, and then they were back in their hotel room and there wasn't any indication given that they planned to pursue the witches' deaths. That doesn't make sense to me, especially because Dean killed Amy just because there was a chance she might kill again. Why would they let these witches go so easily? According to the ethics of the show, they should still be killed for the murders they already committed. Thoughts?

Yes. I've seen this mentioned around the place and it is troubling. It's also a double standard.

The only answer I've seen is that, through experience, they know they can't kill witches. Which...*shrugs* makes no sense really.

My thinking is that they just couldn't (as in didn't want to) kill off these two "lovable" rogues. Or something. I know they are from Buffy, so I am wondering if they wanted to leave them alive to appease Buffy fans? I am only speculating.

Unless of course they have a purpose later on in the show. When Sam finds out what Dean did he may use not killing the witches as an example of his double standard. I really doubt that.

Personally, I think they screwed up. Shame.

Thanks for verifying that I'm not completely out in left field. While there were elements in this ep that I really liked, and despite the awesome outtake we got, this was the first ep this season that left me feeling like I'd had a snack rather than a meal, if that makes sense.

I was reading some back posts on the Fangasm site last night, and I remember that one of the guys said that each season they have a script that comes from "outside" their usual writers, and how sometimes they need to alter the dialogue so that it actually sounds the way Sam or Dean would say it, because writers who aren't part of the writing staff don't always have a handle on the characters' speech patterns. Anyway, I noticed that this ep was written by Brad Buckner and Eugenie Ross-Leming, who haven't written an ep since Route 666. I wonder if that's why the ball was somewhat dropped?

Interesting. You'd think you'd have someone overseeing the writer process. I get them picking up things like the way the boys talk, but even stuff like..."we can't let the MoTW get away because we just had Dean shoot one that we'd built sympathy for". Or at least give us a reason why they let them get away.

Same with the way Bobby reacted to his house burning down. If it was a writing issue then it should have been addressed before filming started. Though, Jensen directed that episode so you'd think he would have picked it up.

Hmmm.. just don't know on this one.
