I need that CSI piece of equipment..

Geeking Out
... you know the one where you can zoom in on a photo and can suddenly read very fine text.

Anyone got magic equipment like that? Or can make out what the name on this motel card says? It's from 6.08 All Dogs Go To Heaven.

"Over the Rainbow" maybe? Not sure the pyramid design supports that, but the stripy colours might (which, on second thought, is probably a prism and therefore supports "rainbow" even more...hmmmmm). Also the episode is about a dog looking for a home...just like Toto. (stretch...?)

sorry, but it's not clearer in none of the other scenes where you can see it (bedside table or fridge)

Yeah - I know. I checked whenever it appears but they just don't get close enough (so frustrating -they've obviously named it something...)

I think over the rainbow is probably a good shout. And the toto ref ties in nicely with the episode title. In other random facts, the pyramid prism with a rainbow of light passing through it is also the cover of Pink Floyds dark side of the moon album. Not sure how that ties in with anything other than Dean's taste in music though!

galwithglasses suggested that to me and I like it. There are good reasons why it could be that.

And it's funny, I kept thinking "Over the moon" for some reason and it's probably because that prism reminds me of "Dark Side of the Moon". :))

It could be moon in a fancy script...that would explain the full yellow circle for the O. Full moon = werewolves and this isn't that..still close though with skinwalkers. Other possibilities for the first word are Come and Gone so I still don't know. There is a car pictured on the other cards...don't know if that matters.

Checked my caps of the ep, even viewed my download and blew it up to full screen and I still couldn't make out what it said. Sorry!
13th-Mar-2013 11:33 am (UTC)
<33 Thank you so much for doing that. It appears in a couple of moments (and even on the fridge!), but it's just never clear.

(I even tweeted Jerry Wanek, though I doubt he'll respond. Never know though...:D)

I consulted a paleographer friend and neither she nor I can see the word that would have to be "rainbow" as "rainbow," although we also don't know what else it might be. I've sent out a bat signal to another possible expert.

It would fit, though, wouldn't it? Robo!Sam = Tin Man. /overthinking it
13th-Mar-2013 01:38 pm (UTC)
Oh thank you! And I know...I want it to say rainbow so much I just wonder if my brain is seeing that...

Ha! Tin Man working perfectly. (hee...and Toto isn't over thinking it? :D)

(I know that enlarging it doesn't work. I wonder if using a magnifier on it would? I don't have one so can't test that out...).

Thanks hun.x

Yeah, I don't think that last word is 'rainbow' either, but now this is reeeeeally bugging me.

It is TOTALLY bugging me now. I've been thinking of different combination of words it could be - with that image.

Okay, just did a quick rewatch. I think it's the Over the Moon Motel. I've got the Blu-ray and a big-screen tv but it still wasn't super-clear. Whatever font they used isn't doing us any favors. We should find out who the script supervisor is and ask them, too. They might know...
13th-Mar-2013 11:11 pm (UTC)
Thanks hun. I'm thinking that last word is too long for "moon" - but the font might be messing with us.

Tara Larson just posted a pic of a motel on her twitter asking if anyone could say which one it was. I have answered it so I'm hoping in return she might give me the name of this motel.

I can but hope. :))

I actually exchanged a couple of tweets this morning with Perry Battista (he's the lead set dresser and seems like a cool guy), and though it didn't ring a bell for him at first, he said he'd look it up later. Not sure if he will or not, but hey, it's worth a stab!
13th-Mar-2013 11:47 pm (UTC)
Oh yay that's brilliant!

(we might just crack this nut *g*)

13th-Mar-2013 01:44 pm (UTC)
*g* We just need a mole in the art department we can ask stuff like this.....
13th-Mar-2013 01:50 pm (UTC)
Yes. I tweeted Jerry but I suppose they have rules about returning tweets. Now, someone in the art department might give over the info...

Hmmmm...might check wiki for possibilities...

(I love the idea that that could be the name....)
13th-Mar-2013 01:51 pm (UTC)
After enlarging the image, it's definitely not rainbow, but I can't make out much else. SORRY!
13th-Mar-2013 01:55 pm (UTC)
Thanks for checking honey. And yeah...I'm thinking it's not rainbow either. The letter shapes just aren't working for it.

13th-Mar-2013 03:26 pm (UTC)
If you use your video editing software can you zoom in on the scene?
14th-Mar-2013 11:35 am (UTC)
Nah - unfortunately (unlike the "magic" CSI equipment) it just pixelates and becomes even harder to read. :(

13th-Mar-2013 04:44 pm (UTC)
It's definitely Over The ~something~ I just can't make out the last word. The font is making it really hard, even when I enlarge it.
14th-Mar-2013 11:36 am (UTC)
Yeah...Over the...Arghhh....what?! So frustrating....
13th-Mar-2013 11:33 pm (UTC)
It could also be "Over the Prism" Motel...
14th-Mar-2013 11:37 am (UTC)
Hmmmm....That first letter could be a "P".... strange name for a hotel though... (but I wouldn't put it past them...)
