Gag reel hearts
bertee has written a wonderful snap shot of Amelia from a little prompt I left. It's not only a great outsider POV of Sam, it provides a depth to Amelia that I was craving from the show.

counteragent has written a beautiful and unique alternate ending to 8.23 - Catharsis. It works as a "fix-it" if you need one, or simply as a great visual journey as Sam and Dean find themselves on an alternate plane.

spnmonster has been hosting a lively, yet sane and surprisingly wank-free discussion on Dean's (bi)sexuality. Hosting something like this isn't for the faint hearted - it's a very controversial topic in fandom, but she's done a great job presenting arguments and remaining articulate (and sane!) in the course of the discussion. I really enjoyed reading the alternate points of view on the topic.

Thanks for these, bb. I love bertee's and counteragent's writing, yet somehow missed both those posts, so really, THANK YOU. ♥ Thanks also for the heads-up re cheebles' post, especially the "wank-free" recommendation. \o/

You're welcome honey. bertee's is in a comment thread so that one will so easily be missed. And I missed counteragent's original post also ( *guh* I have such a ridiculous amount of reading bookmarked - I want to read Impala run that you recc'd...).

The wank-freediscussion is interesting and why LJ will always be my fandom home.

As someone involved in the discussion on Cheebles page! It has been refreshing to be able to discuss it even with those I disagree with, without it turning into a screaming match, or general rudeness and sarcasm. It is always good to hear others perspectives in a wank and hate free environment :)

I am so glad you were involved in the discussion. I held a similar kind of discussion a while ago and it was pointed out to me (in a different thread) that it's really only people who don't like Dean/Cas who get involved in them. I am always so keen to hear from people who are Dean/Cas shippers and get their perspective on it all - without, as you say, the rudeness and sarcasm.

Indeed there is no need for rudeness and sarcasm at the end of the day as much as we care about it, it is only a TV show and not something that is worth getting vicious with other people over.

I tend to rarely involve myself in such discussions because I tend to want to discuss them within a different parameter to most. Most of the time when it comes up people are discussing in terms of "Oh it will definitely become canon don't you see the build up the writers are doing" (the pro bi Dean fans and Destiel shippers for the most part) or "Dean is a straight man, it will never be canon he is bi-sexual and this discussion is pointless" (Those anti-Destiel or bi-sexual Dean in general).

Whereas I am happy to state that the show won't make bi-sexual Dean canon and at most make it a sub-textual thing some viewers will pick up on (their 'nods' to the audience to use the words of Misha and Jim Michaels). What I would prefer to discuss instead is how feasible an interpretation is it to consider Dean bi-sexual and while acknowledging it won't actually happen, *if* they were going to go there how well it would fit with what we already know about the character of Dean. In my case while I don't read Sam as anything but 100% hetero-sexual I do think we've been given enough hints over the years it would not be a ridiculous direction to take Dean in.

Also I don't think one has to necessarily be a Destiel fan to see the potential for bi-sexual Dean. In fact throughout the discussion I made a point of discussing how I see the potential in Dean through his general behaviour (i.e. his tendency to surpress particularly in earlier seasons parts of him that aren't conform to the 'manly' image he wishes to convey) and examples of scenes throughout the show which could be read that way without a particular focus on Destiel, Wincest or any other particular ship :).
