Popping by to say I hoped I managed to thank everyone personally for their birthday messages. They meant a lot so here's an extra thank you! <33

I also want to give a shout out to the lovely mods at spn_littlebro. Especially to ayane42 for taking over the newsletter compiling while I'm on a hiatus. And to nahemaraxe for doing an amazing job with the littlebro tumblr.

I'm currently acting in a show called "Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb" (yes, it's as silly as the name suggests! But hopefully entertaining *g*). I'm playing a "flamboyant" novelist. It's so nice to be involved in my local theatre again. It was once my home away from home. Going back has been a good step for me.

I'm currently reading the Captive Prince trilogy. I've just finished the second book and I ADORE it! SO SO much! I almost don't want to read the third one because I don't want it to end - but I'm also chomping at the bit to get started.

Australia had their election this weekend. And, as like many places in the world, the electorate sent a "message" to the major parties that they're not that happy with the status quo. The results are too close to call at the moment - and in the end we may end up with a hung parliament (where neither party has the majority to govern on their own). The downside is we've ended up with more rightwing (read that as racist) independents, which concerns me. I felt like a had to do something on the day and as I am a strong supporter of many of The Green's policies (climate change, marriage equality, end to our horrendous immigration policies etc), I helped them out on the day. I had hoped there would be more of a swing to The Greens, but (for some reason) people just find it too difficult to "trust" them and put their votes elsewhere. But, as I said to a guy on the day, we can't give up. The future is too important. /soapbox

I'm exercising a bit more and still not eating sugar. Cutting out sugar in my diet has been one of the best things I've done (well, perhaps second to stopping smoking). It gives me a sense of control and I feel so much better for it. I feel confident that I can stick to this way of eating (especially when the lolly box comes out at rehearsals - saying no is hard, but ultimately worth it *g*).

*hugs* to all. I'm sorry I am missing posts (though I have been trying to check things out when I can). I am going to bookmark fic for when I've finished King's Rising. :)

It was one of those days when things just fell into place. :D

(and any night that ends in dancing has to be considered a good one! *g*)

Same here, as I'm sure everyone is aware. I don't know what the hell is going on with the world right now.

Enjoy your show lovely, glad you're having such a good time =)

I don't know what the hell is going on with the world right now.

It all seems pretty crazy - especially in the UK. Now I'm really curious to see what happens in the US (and worried!)

Thanks honey. <33

I voted Greens!!! Sadly, I live in a pretty safe Liberal seat so I always feel like I'm screaming into the void.
But. One of my kids lives in the seat of Melbourne and the other in the seat of Batman. So. Go you wonderful young people!!
I feel like we're getting really split. On the one side, the people who are passionate about human rights and the environment. On the other side, the people who are terrified; things are changing, 'other' people are frightening, things were better in 'the good old days'. It's hard to reach them through all that fear. Anyway, good on you for getting more involved. I probably should too.

Glad you're enjoying your theatre again. I hope you have an absolute blast!

Yay! Go Greens! They really are the only ones whose policies speak to me. WA is majority Liberal - but I live in a fairly safe Labor seat which makes me feel a *bit* better.

And yes, we really are so split as a society. The fact that Pauline Hanson and One Nation are back it particularly telling. And terrible!

I would like to be more involved but I'm not good at door knocking etc. I just handed out how to vote cards - but it was fun. The Green's candidate popped by on the day and we had a nice chat (and hug! *g*).

I'm so happy that you're acting and enjoying it too!!! Such a great output for creativity.

I don't think I've ever paid this much attention to politics, which sounds bad, but I mean it in the sense that it's full of drama, it's like watching a soap opera or something. But yes, all this far right movement is certainly terrifying.

Take care and keep in touch *hugs*

I've been up and down with politics. I think social media has helped me be more interested. I am also really worried about where things are heading - especially with the environment. I am certainly opening peeps in the US take a real interest with the up coming election. ;)))

Thanks hun (and I've book marked your meantotbe fic. I look forward to reading it. :)

Yes, I know what you mean. Social media has been a huge help, but sometimes it does feel like it's been jammed down your throat, and sometimes it's just such a relief to see a pretty photograph instead :)

(He he - thank you for the bookmark! Hurt!Jared will be there for you whenever you have the craving :D xoxox

I saw you'd been campaigning for the Greens - we have the same problem here. I think it's because the Green soapbox is seen as somehow wishy washy and people think we need a party that rants and raves regardless of whether their ranting makes any sense. That's seen as being strong, and yup, opens the door to all kinds of extremism. The right wing are getting farther to the right without there being a strong left alternative. It's all rather worrying.

Captive Prince! I so wish I'd enjoyed it as much as everyone else seems to have done! I thought it was ok, but it didn't grip me enough to bother about not reading the final part.

The Greens have a pretty strong presence here (I think! It might just be I take notice of them), but I think they are seen as some extreme left movement rather than a voice for stuff like climate change and general fairness in the world. *sigh* the movement to the radical right is sad and worrying

Oh and re Captive Prince - I have the third book and in the back she lists all the LJ readers who supported the fic when it was here. And your name was there! :) I recognised about 4 names the list.

I must admit I am well and truly hooked - but I can understand it not being for everyone.

*hugs*

How lovely that you are enjoying acting again and are doing well. Nothing like doing things that make us happy. :D
And wow on keeping up with your sugar free diet. And even exercising again! *hides in the lazy corner* ;D

The show has been fun. I think because the role isn't anything too deep. I know I'll be happy when it's over though because the 3 week run (about 15 performances) gets very trying.

*hugs*

Good to hear from you! Better still that you're enjoying theater, and reaping the benefits of eschewing sugar--not an easy thing to maintain in the face of so much temptation, but rewarding! Politics is just damned scary everywhere. I think we all feel a little less helpless if we do what we can locally, and hope for the best world wide.

Oh, and I love TCP, but it's a closed canon (at least so far) and I have difficulty maintaining fannish speculation about it. That's probably my own personal failing, though.

I think we all feel a little less helpless if we do what we can locally,

Exactly that. I know I could do more but happy to have done a little bit. :)

I read that there's some additional chapters (or mini mini e-stories) coming up. I can't see myself being fannish about it - though I am looking forward to checking out all the art. It's what got me intrigued in the first place. :)

I had hoped there would be more of a swing to The Greens

Me too. I thought it would be a good year for it, when many people were unhappy with both major parties.

Glad you had a good birthday!

I thought it would be a good year for it, when many people were unhappy with both major parties.

Yeah. Me too. I think ppl think a vote for the Greens is a wasted vote - or something. It's worrying that the alternative votes went to right wing parties. Ugh One Nation. :((

I look forward to catching up if the 17th goes ahead. :))

You're acting! Yay!! That's great!

Living in the US is a whole lot of not-fun these days. We have to endure Trump. Hillary is no saint, but Trump is a walking garbage fire. Cable news keep the fire stoked. It's insane and inescapable.

Hey! late reply, but better late than never!

I gotta say US politics looks like a bit of a circus from here. Fascinating though. And scary. At this point in time I am truly scared President Trump will exist. It will be the end of the world as we know it.
